PDP spokesman, 20 others killed by gunmen in Adamawa

A former Commissioner of Sport and Youth Development and spokesman of the Adamawa state Peoples Democratic Party,Mr.Sam Zaock has been killed by unknown gunmen in an attack.
Mr.Zadock and other twenty rural dwellers were said to have been gunned down in an ambush by gunmen in some villages of Demsa Local Government in Adamawa state.
Confirming the incident to newsmen on yesterday in Yola, the State Secretary of PDP, Alhaji Abdullahi Prambe said the news came as a big shock to the party.
“We were expecting him for a meeting yesterday but he didn’t show up; he called me but the network wasn’t good only for us to hear that he was killed in an attack,” Prambe said.
It could be recalled that,there were separate attacks on some villages of Demsa Local Council on Tuesday morning at about 6:00 am where twenty people including late Zadock were killed and their houses razed down.
Villages attacked were; Gwamba,Galanga,Sabon Pegi,Gidan Mission,Sallara,Sundi and Lamora respectively.
Confirming the development, spokesman of the Adamawa state Police Command, S.P Othman Abubakar said report at his disposal has shown that,Gwamba and other villages in Demsa Local Government Area were attacked by unknown gunmen in early hours of Tuesday morning.
Abubakar explained that when the villages were under attack,most of the villagers deserted their homes while the assailants burnt down their houses destroying properties worth millions of Naira.
He stated that a team of military troops and Police Mobile Force personnel were immediately moved in to the warring area .
He added that seven suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons in their custody noting that those arrested and the exhibits are still in the custody of the military.
“The drafted team while trailing the assailants arrested one suspected Nbula youth with one AK 47 rifle with 41 rounds of 7.62MM ammunition.
“When the team moved to Garikiji village,They arrested 6 Suspected herdsmen carrying one locally made rifle with 25 cartridges, a cutlass, bow/arrow, charms and looted clothes, “.Abubakar disclosed.
Also the military in a statement regarding the incident by Army Spokesman, Brig. Gen Texas Chukwu confirmed the killing of 10 suspected. gunmen involved in the attack and the arrest of six others.
