From Mohammad Ibrahim, Kaduna
Winner of the Southern Kaduna Senatorial zone for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , Danjuma Tella Laah yesterday urged all aggrieved members across the country to remain in the party in spite losing primary elections, particularly in the state.
In a statement signed by the senatorial candidate made available to newsmen in the state, Laah said his victory at the primary was the choice of the members of the party and the people at large.
Laah defeated the former Finance Minister and serving Senator, Esther Nenadi Usman at a primary held at the Kafachan Township Stadium a month ago.
He further advised members to put the party’s interest above personal interest.
According to him, contrary to rumours making rounds in the zone suggesting that thugs were hired during the primaries to disrupt the process and intimidate other aspirants, Leah, a retired civil servant and businessman, denied the allegation.
“The primary election was hitch free and thugs were not used to intimidate any aspirants as rumoured, as there was no security report to that regard. As you all know, I am a man of peace and will not encourage such act”, Laah said.
He however called on all party members and electorate within the zone to come out again en masse and vote the ruling party both at the national and state level.
While emphasizing on achievements of the party, Laah said it is only the PDP led government that has been able to provide quality leadership both at the centre and states over the past fifteen years.
He also assured the electorate that if they vote PDP again during the forthcoming 2015 general elections, insecurity, poverty and the issue of state creation will be taken seriously.
