The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State yesterday confirmed and presented the party’s flag to Dr. Mohammed Yusuf Agabi as the duly elected guber candidate during the recently conducted party primaries.
Presenting the flag to him during a meeting of the party’s stakeholders and candidates at the state party secretariat by the Board of Trustee Secretary, Dr. Walid Jibrin said that the flag was presented to Agabi as the authentic governorship aspirant to run for the 2015 general election as well as that the flag symbolizes flagging off of campaigns.
According to him, the flag symbolizes a representation of the National secretariat of the PDP that Alh. Yusuf Agabi has been accepted by the people of Nasarawa State, national sectariat of the party and by President Goodluck Jonathan as the recognized and acceptable candidate to run the race in Nasarawa State.
Meanwhile, addressing the stakeholders and candidates, PDP state Chairman, Chief Yunana Iliya said that the meeting marked the presentation of candidates who emerged victorious during the PDP Primaries in the state, ranging from the state House of assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and the governorship.
According to him “Those who emerged winners were not because of their talents, wealth or powers: stressing that it was the will of God and God gives power to whom He wishes.”
Chief Yunana further admonished aggrieved members to embrace dialogue in order to forge ahead for the progress of the party in the state and the nation at large.
He added that aggrieved members should for the interest of the party, desist from using abusive utterances; urging them to be calm as according to him the party has setup reconciliation committee for the interest of peace, unity and progress of party prior to the general election.
His words: “Election in everywhere comes with pains. But Nasarawa State PDP primaries were one of the transparent in the country. I urged the aggrieved members to avail themselves to the reconciliation committee for better understanding”.
In his remarks on behalf of the candidates elect, Agabi said that God gives power to whom He deserves, commending the people of the state for their utmost support given to him during the exercise that brought him victory to run the race and called for same during the secondary election.
