  • Plans Fintiri’s removal
  • Schemes to install Ngilari

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has allegedly uncovered plots by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to foil the scheduled October 11 guber re-run election, remove the acting governor, Ahmadu Umar Fintiri and install former governor Murtala Nyako’s deputy as governor.

Sounding the alarm yesterday, National Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youths Vanguard, Hon Jibrilla Madu Gadzama, who is an indigene of Adamawa, told Peoples

Daily that there are strong indications some PDP stalwarts in Adamawa are plotting to bring back the former deputy governor, Bala Ngilari and to remove the acting governor by stopping him from participating in the scheduled re-run.

According to Gadzama, the PDP is scheming to foil the re-run election by resorting to the courts where Ngilari has taken his case, challenging his purported resignation as deputy governor during the heat of the impeachment process that led to the removal of his former boss, with the court expected to determine the case tomorrow.

It would be recalled that Ngilari paved the way for former governor Nyako to be impeached after he reportedly sent his resignation letter to the Speaker of the state assembly, following which Ngilari approached the courts demanding to be reinstated as governor of the state, with the judgment slated for tomorrow.

The APC is now alleging that the PDP is plotting to resort to the same courts to scuttle Fintiri’s ambition to become governor of the state while at the same time installing Ngilari as governor.

“The only crime of the acting governor is that he is stubborn and has no godfather and therefore, they felt he cannot be easily manipulated by the PDP because his loyalty is not 100% to the decision makers of the party in Adamawa State” Gadzama explained further.

He added that Fintiri got it wrong with the PDP leadership, when he said in an interview he granted journalists, that his party (PDP) cannot determine his faith whether to participate or not in the 2015 Adamawa State governorship election.

“Today the game is about to change against the PDP machinery who described the impeachment as a stolen mandate of the PDP; the leaders are now planning round the clock to unseat the acting governor and the judiciary is one of the planned option to achieve that.

“Adamawa state indigenes are eagerly waiting to see the magic that will happen on the 11th October, 2014, whether the judiciary will write its name in gold or to rubbish it beyond recognition, by allowing the election to hold or not to hold as scheduled by INEC” Gadzama said.

All efforts by our reporter to reach either the PDP in Adamawa or even the acting governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, for their reactions on the matter proved unsuccessful as neither the state PDP chairman, Mr Joel Madaki nor the Chief Press Secretary to the acting governor, Solomon Kumangar picked their phone calls, not even a text message sent to the CPS was replied.
