From Ahmad Ibrahim, Lokoja
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan has expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state would be dislodged from power in the coming governorship election.
Speaking during the endorsement of the Engr. Musa/ Aro ticket by the people of the Western flank of the State in Lokoja yesterday, Ologbondiyan said it was the collective decision of the people of the state to send Governor Yahaya Bello out of Lugard House.
He pointed out that the APC administration has destroyed the good legacies laid by the past PDP governments, noting that the majority of the people of the state who have been at the receiving end of the present leadership in the state would definitely effect change in November.
The Publicity Secretary therefore stressed the need for the supporters and loyalists of the party to close rank, in view of the assignment ahead, saying that no efforts must be spared in ensuring that the people of the state are liberated.
Chief Sam Aro in his response thanked the people of the state, particularly the Western axis of the state for their show of solidarity, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
He enjoined the party loyalists and supporters to be prepared for the battle ahead, insisting that Governor Bello must be chased out of power.
He said when the game finally starts; the present government would know that the PDP means business, stressing that a non performing Governor cannot be allowed to continue to spread poverty in the state.
The Deputy Governorship candidate said Kogi under PDP would not be dictated to by selected few, pointing out that all the stakeholders must come together to wrest power from the present administration in the state, in the collective interest of the people.
He maintained that the state civil servants and other well meaning individuals who have seriously suffered the misrule of Governor Bello in the last three and half years would not wish to extend the tenure of the incumbent.
Aro said that God Almighty has abandoned the present government, even as he pointed out that the people of the state were poised to protect their votes on November 16 this year.
While insisting that the end has finally come for the Governor Bello led administration, he expressed confidence in the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free, fair and credible election.
He disclosed that they have commenced reconciliation and confidence building, following the dust raised as a result of the recent party primaries, urging the people of the state to protect their votes from poll riggers, who have lost the electorates, due to bad leadership.
