Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State have petitioned the leadership of the party over alleged plans to give an automatic ticket to Kaduna State chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Danjuma Yusuf Akuso as the only aspirant for the House of Representatives primaries election from Kagarko local government area of the state.
A group under the auspice of concerned PDP members from Kagarko Local Government Area of the state stated this in a letter addressed to the state chairman, Chief Abubakar Gaiya Haruna,
The latter dated 8th October, 2014, and signed by Zaphaniah Yohanna and Mr. Monday Adukwa respectively and made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday stated that on 1st October 2014, the chairman of PDP in Kagarko local government area, invited some 25 select stakeholders from across ten ward of the local government to a meeting which was held in the Chamber of the local government.
The statement further added that the ‘special stakeholders’ was said have resolved to endorse Akuso as the sole candidate for the House of Representative at the meeting.
“In order to diffuse the tension already generated and assures members of our party that their inalienable right to free, fair and credible election primaries will not be trampled upon, we call on the chairman to: Ensure that the PDP’s guidelines issued by the National Headquarters of our party regarding elections are strictly complied with, and followed to the letter. Ensure that a level playing ground is provided for all aspirants.
