PDP: Forget electoral defeat, work for the party – Ayyuba Gambarawa

The Leader of Coalition of Youth Clubs and associations in Katsina state, Ayyuba Umar Gambarawa has charged defeated Peoples Democratic Party PDP aspirants and their supporters especially gubernatorial aspirants to eschew anger of defeat and work assiduously for the victory of the party in forthcoming 2015 polls.

Gambarawa was speaking in an exclusive interview in Abuja against the backdrop of recent primaries conducted across the country including Katsina state where many aspirants were defeated.

He said, politicians must not only believe that one person wins elections among many, but be seen to be doing so by embracing the winner and working for the party to win elections without rancour that could lead to its failure during polls.

‘It is very painful and sad for any political office seeker to fail elections but that ought to be a beginning of the struggle because whoever believes in success must at the same time knows failure could come his way,’ he said.

He then said to eschew bitterness of defeat and move on in support and loyalty to the PDP is a testimony of a good democrat and an exhibition of a sportsmanship, adding that all PDP members in the state should support it sincerely, so that it win elections at all levels since ideals and philosophies of the party is what everyone of them stand for.

The youth leader then dismissed recent calls by some persons in the state for the State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Shema over a certain comment, calling it as rattling of a person seeking public relevance.

‘Those publication are only mere opinions of people with bad intentions who are all to distract the huge success of the Shema administration in both physical infrastructure, human empowerments and political transition by holding a free, credible, smooth and most peaceful primaries in the country recently.

I am calling on the public, including foreign missions in this country to ignore and disregard these publications calling Shema impeachment and regards it as a distractions to cause give a dog a bad to hang it, and score cheap political points.

Gambarawa then said, he is certain that the Shema administration would react to the paid advertorials at a good time where it will address the issues raised by the writer and clear the air.

He then charged the good people of Katsina state to continue to support the legacies of Shema administration which is unprecedented in the history of democracy in the state, and assured them that the duly elected governorship candidate will surely protect, safeguard and promote the legacies Shema is leaving behind for the overall good of all citizens.
