Following the disruptions during the presidential rally of President Goodluck Jonathan in Bauchi on Thursday last week, the Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda, has alleged that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains were the brain behind all disruptions and inconveniences during Jonathan’s visit to the state.
Yuguda who was reacting yesterday on the Hausa Service of the BBC on the incident, accused some PDP stalwarts who stay in Abuja for organizing party youth to misbehave themselves during the visit and disorganize the rally.
Yuguda who refused to call names of the organizers alleged that the intention of the planned actions was to signal to the president that the governor did not perform well and therefore was not popular and insignificant in the state.
“Our checks revealed that some PDP members in Abuja have already told Jonathan that I am nothing in Bauchi and to prove what they have said, they have to organize this. All those that took part in the disruptions are PDP members and not APC as alleged.
“The people were sponsored by certain PDP members from Abuja. They were told to raise brooms and Buhari’s posters when Jonathan arrived the state and so they did. The sponsors have tarnished the good image of the people of Bauch and our traditional rulers.
While corroborating his claim, he noted that Jonathan had visited many APC states successfully without such hindrances or disruptions and therefore in the PDP states, more successes should have been expected than what had happened, reaffirming that there are strong PDP members behind the disruptions.
