Peoples Democratic ( PDP) chieftain in Ningi LGA area of Bauchi state, Alhaji Audu Abubakar alongside over 50,000 supporters have finally dumped the party and defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The decampees were received to the APC by the state chairman, Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana at the Ningi Mini stadium with a large turn-out of party big-wigs from all walks of life.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Alhaji Audu Abubakar popularly known as A.T said, their decision to dump the PDP followed the failure of the party to consolidate on the gains of democracy in line with their campaign promise.
“We regretted staying in the PDP for years when it does not have anything to show in the transformation of the state whereas poverty, political and economic impoverishment is the order of the day” said Abubakar.
Leader of the decampees stated that they were informed on the need for urgent change in the political affairs of the country that was why he alongside over 50,000 others dumped the PDP.
While receiving the decampees, the APC chairman Alhaji Uba Ahmad Nana said, the defection of the people justify a glaring chance for the APC ahead of the 2015 election, saying the defectors made a timely and right decision.
Nana noted that poverty, political and economic deprivation was institutionalized by the PDP, urging the people to vote the APC in order to actualize the yearning and aspirations of Nigerians.
“We must maintain the status quo of escorting our votes in 2015 elections as a measure to protect the interest of the APC in its determination to capture Bauchi and the entire country” Nana stated.
“We are here to make history by receiving over 50,000 supporters who dumped the PDP to join the APC as a result of the yearning and aspirations of the people and I am charging those serving as political contractors to the PDP to desist from the act” said Nana.
According to Nana the political permutation in Ningi is a great threat to the PDP who claim to have consolidated on the gains of democracy.
Those present at the occasion were APC gubernatorial aspirant, former Police affairs Minister Dr. Ibrahim Lame, APC state deputy chairman Hon. Harsanu Guyaba, senator Mohammed Mohammed, retired AIG Mohammadu Sani Ningi among other dignitaries.
