Mr Ekpo Okon, immediate past Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River state, has said that the party remains the best option for the people of South-South geo-political zone of the country.
Okon said this yesterday in Calabar during a chat with the newsmen.
“For the people of South-South, PDP remains the best option, and no other party in the zone can match the impact of Peoples Democratic Party.
“This great party has been on ground since 1999 and it has recorded successes in the stability of the rule of law, job creation, power supply and youth empowerment.
He added that the party will reclaim the states in the zone which are currently being ruled by the opposition.
“Rivers and Edo are currently being governed by the All Progressive Congress (APC), but come 2015, PDP will win clearly in those two states,” he boasted.
According to him, the 2015 general elections in Rivers and Edo would prove to the people that PDP is still on ground in the South-South.
“In 2015, the position of the President will not be negotiable and South-South will work tirelessly to make sure that Goodluck Jonathan is re-elected.” He commended the President, whom he said despite the security challenges in the country has continued to strive hard to ensure the success of the transformation agenda.
“We in the South-South are in strong support of the re-election of Mr. President, and we must stand behind him to ensure his victory in the 2015 polls,” he enjoined.
