Brazilian professional mixed martial artist, Paulo Costa has demanded for a rematch with his Nigerian born counterpart, Israel Adesanya after the latter crushingly defeated on Saturday night
Costa who was defeated in round 2 of the fight branded Israel Adesanya ‘human trash’ for the gesture he performed moments after knocking him out at UFC 253.
After almost 12 months of vitriol, the two middleweights met on Fight Island for the UFC middleweight title.
However, the rivalry seemed to be extinguished in Abu Dhabi within two rounds after ‘The Last Stylebender’ dropped and finished Costa in two rounds.
Yet ‘Borrachinha’ was left fuming when Adesanya appeared to ‘hump’ him from behind and he has since issued a furious statement in which he also demanded a rematch.
“Adesanya is human trash,” he wrote on Instagram. “This has become a grave situation!
“I saw his disgusting action after fight and I will not stop until I have my revenge. @danawhite make this rematch happen.
“It turned into a matter of honour and I want the rematch immediately.
Adesanya appeared to mount Costa and then ‘hump’ his stricken rival and Costa was forced to watch his bitter rival collect the UFC middleweight title
“Let’s sort it out as it should be, life or death, 100% prepared. Dana White let’s go.” He said.
The 32-year-old Nigerian is unlikely to want to give the Brazilian an instant rematch and has instead focused his attention on the winner from Robert Whittaker’s fight against Jared Cannonier at UFC 254 next month.
In the immediate aftermath of his victory on Fight Island, Adesanya said: “I told you guys, Anderson Silva lived a great legacy and I said I wanted to do service to the middleweight division and that is a hard act to follow but we’re doing the work, 100 per cent.”
He continued: “So I already DM’d Cannonier, he’s a hell of a dude, I love his energy. He’s a beautiful, beautiful man. And I said ‘You destroy Robert Whittaker and you’re next’.
“He’s the one I want to fight next. He deserves it if he beats Robert Whittaker handily and dominates him, he’s next.
“I think Jared is going to dust Whittaker and I look forward to fighting him, what we said in the DMs, he said he wants to get it done and I look forward to that.
“But if Whittaker wins and he wants to get knocked out a third time, I can make that happen too.”
