Party insists Minister nominee, Sale Mamman is from Taraba State

The All Progressive Congress APC in Taraba State APC has said supports the nomination of Egnr Sale Mamman as ministerial representative for Taraba in the Federal Executive Council, insisting that the nominee is a bonafide citizen of the State from Jalingo local government.The party in a press statement signed by its State APC Publicity Secretary, Aaron Artimas stressed that Sale Mamman had been a full participant of various efforts made by APC in Taraba State to consolidate the gains of the party in the past years. The party also dismissed insinuations that he contested elections in another state as a non issue as many prominent Nigerians have contested elections in other states while still retaining their natural Indegenship.“ Notable examples like, Sen. BintaMasi, James Falake and the immediate past Governor of Osun who had served as commissioner in Lagos State but now a ministerial nominee for Osun state will suffice.”“For the avoidance of any doubt, the APC in Taraba State hereby restate our profound appreciation to President MuhammaduBuhari for choosing a worthy and highly qualified party man to represent our State in the Federal Executive Council. As one of the oldest members of our party, Egnr Mamman has not only diligently served our party but also, he has handled many positions of responsibility at the national level and is well known to the President,” Artimas said. Artimas urged its elected representatives in the National assembly to diligently work for the successful screening of the state nominee for the unity and progress of the party, urging the National Assembly to disregard claims by “some disgruntled people that the State APC EXCO or any Organ of the party in the State is opposed to the nomination or any plan to protest against Egnr Sale Mamman. Earlier Tarabans from all parts of the country yesterday hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for choosing Engr. Sale Mamman for the ministerial slot of the state in his second term cabinet.
Although a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Taraba State Governor Daris Ishaku described the Taraba minster nominee as one of the “finest gentle man with deep sense of commitment to responsibility.’’
The governor in a tweet said Mamman is an illustrious son of Taraba state.
Various statekholders and leaders of the APC in the state all agreed with President Buhari’s choice saying Taraba state has been given an opportunity to showcase another of its best to the world.Also a group, Taraba Progressive Movement in a press statement signed by one of its coordinator Martins Andekin said the nomination was not only well-deserved but also one that will move the party forward in Taraba state.Describing the choice of Engr. Sale Mamman as a round peg in a round hole, Andekin described the ministerial nominee as a patriotic party loyalist who had always stands by the party in the state.The statement reads: “The Taraba Progressive Movement wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to President Buhari on the appointment of Engr. Sale Mamman as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.“Engr. Sale Mamman is one of the best technocrats in Taraba state; he is an astute politician, a sterling administrator and effective leader. His service to the people of Taraba state both as a civil servant and private individual is glorious and commendable .”
Another member of the APC from southern zone Rimamnde Bitrus Nuhu, urged the nominatee to help build a strong APC and unite all blocks in the party saying his nomination has brought great peace to the party.’’We believe you will help us build a strong and united APC in Taraba state.’’
Also the APC Chairman in Taraba, Alhaji Ibrahim El-sudi said the state party leadership is satisfied with the choice of Sale owing to his steadfast and resilience in the APC. El- Sudi said that Sale’s nomination as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would further strengthen the APC in the state to do better in its subsequent outings. He appealed to other persons seeking for positions to remain faithful to the party and close ranks with Sale in the overall interest of APC in Taraba and the nation at large. “He has been with Buhari since he started contesting the presidential elections and today, he is favoured; it is a thing of joy to the APC family in Taraba. ”The man has proven that he is a committed party man and a loyal APC and President Buhari’s supporter; we wish him a successful tenure in office as a minister,” he said.
Engr Mamman, a grandson of the Late Emir of Muri Muhammad Tukur, was born in Lau local government and grew up in Jalingo the state capital.
He worked with Taraba State Land and Survey and retired as Assistant Director in the year 2000 and joined politics in 2003 as card carrying member of the deduct ANPP, CPC, before contesting for Senate Taraba North under the APC in 2015 but lost in party primaries.
