Arrangements have been concluded for the hosting of the second edition of Paigokni Development Association cultural festival slated for this Saturday at UK Bello Primary School Paiko, in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Association’s President, Ambassador Zubairu Dada, who said that the festival was aimed at reviving the cultural potential and identity of Gbari people.
Dada further disclosed that the younger generation would be made to understand and appreciate their history and culture through the festival.
“It is our hope that the festival will serve as the instrument of fostering unity and cohesion amongst the Gbari speaking people within the domain” he said.
The president noted that no fewer than twelve (12) cultural troops are to perform during the festival while it is expected that the exhibition of arts and crafts would be held at the venue of the event where some prominent sons and daughters would be honored.
The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello is expected to be the guest of honour while the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruk Bahago will be the Royal Father of the day.
While, the Provost of Justice Lami Abubakar College of Arts and Legal Studies, Minna, Dr Aliyu Busa will be the guest speaker and the former State Head of Service, Abdulhamid Khadi Kuta will be Chairman of the occasion.
The council Chairman, Mr John Maikarfi and seven (7) district heads in the domain are to be the hosts of the one day festival.
