Over 1 m signatures collected for Jonathan in North Central zone – Anyim

Over 1 .2 million signatures were collected at the North central zonal rally for President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2015 presidential election In Minna the Niger state capital.

Announcing the collated signatures, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim gave the break down as follows; Niger state, 310. 767, Plateau, 308, 610, Benue 103,694, FCT 101,377, KOGI 100,948 ,Kwara 101,060, Nassarawa 100.429,  given a total of 1,126, 885 signatures.

Chairman of the Northern States Governor’s Forum Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu while addressing the rally assured Nigerians that the security challenges in the North Eastern part of the country will soon be over.

Aliyu gave the assurance at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for 2015 rally which was packaged by a nongovernmental organization, the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) at the Trade Fair Complex in Minna.

“We are trying to ensure the security challenges facing Nigeria is surmounted in a very short time” Aliyu told the large crowd adding however that all Nigerians should join hands with the state and Federal Governments to ensure that permanent peace returned to all troubled parts of the country.

“Security is not only the responsibility of the government; it is the responsibility of all Nigerians” he said.

Aliyu who is also the Governor of Niger state, expressed satisfaction with the way and manner the federal government has been handling the security issues facing the country and further admonished Nigerians to have faith in the capability of all agencies of government to manage the situation.

He said President Jonathan’s administration has been able to unite all Nigerians adding that he (Jonathan) has also been able to unite all the governors in the country.

“I encourage all of us to continue to continue to support the administration of the President assuring that ‘we shall be very happy in 2015” the governor stated.

After commending the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria TAN for being in the forefront of the campaign for the re-election of President Jonathan, the governor called for more of such organizations as the 2015 election draws near.

“We need people who can tell others what we are doing, let us continue the journey until we reach our destination’.

The SGF, Anyim Pius Anyim announced that the final number of people who have registered for President Jonathan to continue in office will be made public in Abuja at the end of this month.

Anyim who said he was at the event in his personal capacity received the register containing over N1,126 885 people from the North central zone that signed the TAN register.
