A Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) officer, Josephine Cynthia Onche who was declared missing over a year ago has been discovered dead in a shallow grave in Obi local government area of Benue State.
Recalled that Josephine’s family had declared her missing few days to her wedding in December 2019 after she was said to have gone to the market to buy food stuff.
Approximately one year, five months later, the daughter of the former Mayor of Otukpo, late Chief Inalegwu Onche was found but allegedly killed and buried by her proposed husband for ritual purpose, a source disclosed.
“An Okada man who knew what happened to late Cynthia Onche went to her family members and gave them the news. He led them to arrest her proposed husband who is an Igbo man. The suspect also led the police to Ogun State where they arrested the native doctor, a Yoruba man who performed the ritual at Obi Local Government before relocating to the South West State later.
“Both the proposed husband and the native doctor have both confessed to committing the crime and are presently in police custody in Otukpo”, the source said.
However, the family of the late security personnel have exhumed her remains and buried her yesterday Tuesday June 1st, 2021.
When contacted, the Benue State Command’s Public Relations Officer (CPRO), NSCDC, ASC Ejelikwu Michael declined to comment on the matter immediately, saying he would rather speak on the matter at a later date.
However, an insider who pleaded anonymity told newsmen that the report was true.
Our impeccable sources said the news of officer Cynthia’s demise almost one year after she was declared missing has thrown the command into mourning again.
