Osun PDP primary: APC sponsored Adeleke to create stalemate-Police Affairs Minister

By Lawrence Olaoye

Minister for Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul-jelil Oyewale has said that the former Osun state governor, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke, was sponsored by the the incumebent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, to create stalemate at the recently concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary won by Senator Iyiola Omisore in the state.

The Minister in a statement released by his Special Assistant,Dr. Tokunbo Owoeye, debunked he claims made by a group, Oodua Self Determination Group, alleging that the Police Affairs Minister used policemen to attack Adeleke and hereby constituted dangers to the pace and unity of the South West region.

Oyewale’s aide in a statement said “since assuming office, the minister has conducted himself in line with the law and responsibilities of his office and at no time has the minister abused his office or deploy state resources outside the limit of his office.

“It should be put on records that the group, Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Group, which issued the statement, was formed and financed by Governor Rauf Aregbesola and this was confirmed by the use of state of Osun in the statement. The unfounded allegation is thus APC’s way of lamenting the failure of its plot to derail Osun PDP congress through their surrogate, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke.

“We are not unaware of that APC sponsored Mr. Adeleke to create stalemate at the PDP congress, hence his storming of the hotel housing the electoral team with fully armed thugs who were apprehended by security operatives.

“We repeat here that the former governor is the aggressor, and not the minister who was a victim of the organized assault by Adeleke. First, security reports confirmed that the ex-governor stormed the hotel with thugs armed to teeth. Two, he confessed that he freed political thugs arrested by operatives of Department of State Security on the ground that they are his men. Three, he confessed that he went to where the minister and others were sitting to confront them over the arrest of political thugs.

“We call on Nigerians to ignore the APC’s sponsored group as it was only playing the script of its sponsors who are nursing the wound of their failure to disrupt the state congress of the PDP. The allegation is a mere tissue of lies which emanates from a party feeling the heat from people’s revolt.
