The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF)’s faction under the leadership of Governor Jonah Jang of Platea state yesterday commended President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership, of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of a free and fair governorship election in Osun state recently.
The forum, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Earl Osaro Onaiwu and made available to newsmen, stated that the election was indicative of Jonathan’s commitment to free and fair elections across the country.
The governors congratulated the President for his determination to ensure that elections are won and lost at the polling booth, thereby making sure every vote counts and thus earning Nigeria respect among the comity of nations.
The statement heaped praises on the INEC under the leadership of Professor Atahiru Jega for a well organised and transparent election devoid of hitches and hoped that this would be a precursor to the 2015 polls.
The governors also thanked the men and women of the security agencies for maintaining law and order and the people of Osun state for conducing themselves in a peaceful manner throughout the elections.
