All is set for the launching of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Economic Diplomacy Initiative (NEDI) tomorrow by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
This was contained in a statement released yesterday in Abuja and signed by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Dr. Tope Adeleye Elias-Fatile.
The statement stated that the initiative will be launched by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo on Thursday 5th April 2018 at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, at 3.00.pm.
It informed that NEDI is an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMTI); the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC); and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).
Continuing, it stated that the initiative is aimed at spurring economic growth and development through facilitation of market access, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), cross-border trade and recruitment of skilled Nigerians in diaspora for national development.
According to the statement, “It aligns with the Federal Government’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).
“NEDI leverages on online technology and on existing infrastructure in Nigerian Missions across the world. The platform is divided into two parts – NEDI Business and NEDI professionals. NEDI Business matches Nigerian Businesses with business opportunities around the world while NEDI Professional serves as a one-stop shop for recruiting and engaging Nigerian professionals in the diaspora for national development” the statement read in part.
