Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has flagged off mega empowerment programmes initiated by the Jigawa state government.
The mega empowerment programmes that focuses more on agricultural sector was lunched yesterday at Aminu Kano Triangle Square Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
Osinbajo who lauded Governor Muhammad Abubakar Badaru said, Jigawa state took first position on empowerment programmes that positively impacted on the lives of the common man.
The vice president who said the era of stealing was over in Nigeria, added that, the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammad Buhari had so far empowered thousands of Jigawa youths through its Social Investment Programmes.
According to him, some of the programmes include; tradermoni where over 35,000 people benefited across 27 local government areas in the state.
Osinbajo maintained that, over 434,000 Jigawa school children enjoy free feeding under federal government programme (home grown school feeding) while over 14,368 graduates benefited from Npower programme.
He assured Nigerians that, the present administration is commitment to create more job opportunities to the teeming populace and boost the Nigerian economy to a great heights.
While making his speech at the occasion, the Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru said his administration has empowered over 134,600 youth through various programmes across 27 local government of the state.
Governor Badaru who described eighty percent of Jigawa people as agrarian said, the empowerment programmes was done on agricultural sectors for youths to remain self-reliance.
He mentioned some of the empowerment packages as 50 Qlinks tractors,10 multi-purpose tractors, 300 rice mills, 300 rice and wheat trasher, 200 planters, 300 rice and while hand-held, 575, manual sprayers, 60 mobile veterinary clinics, 100 power tillers among others.
The governor urged the people in the state to continue support to president Muhammadu Buhari and APC government for a better development.
