The former national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on Sunday noticeably absent at the Thanksgiving service of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19 governorship election in Edo State, a tenet considered by his supporters as antithetical to mainstream thinking of dog-whistle ‘simple Agenda’ mantra of the flag bearer.
Also missing at the Ceremony, is a Edo billionaire, Capt. Hosa Okunbo and other notable personalities. But, pundits have considered the action of duo as a departure from their commitment before the election.
No reason has been given for their absence at the church service, which attracted retinue of his family members of Ize-Iyamu, party supporters and friends.
Oshiomhole, ally of Ize-Iyamu, was at the forefront of the Edo APC governorship Campaign prior to the poll and had on several occasions urged to vote out the PDP Candidate in the election, Governor of the State, Governor Godwin Obaseki for alleged failure to fulfill his campaign promises in the past four years.
Our Correspondent reports that Church orderlies at the Soul Winners Parish of the Redeemed Christian church of God in Government Reservation Area in Benin City, Edo State Capital, the marked seat, which was reserved for Oshiomhole and Capt. Idahosa Okunbo and others from the beginning of the service which began at about 7: 30a.m till the end of service.
Addressing journalists on the sidelines of his Thanksgiving service, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu who broke his ominous silence on Sunday, said that he is not keen about challenging the victory of the Candidate of PDP in the election, Governor Godwin Obaseki at the Election petition Tribunal.
He stated that he chose to pursue two pre-election litigation in courts and challenge the eligibility or otherwise of the incumbent Governor of the State and his deputy, Mr. Philip Shaibu.
Obaseki and Shaibu, had in June 2020, defected from APC to PDP to seek re-election.
According to Ize-Iyamu who did not acknowledge the contributions of Oshiomhole to his electioneering, said: “Elections have been done and there is no doubt about it. And Whatever is your feeling about it, the first and the right thing to do is to give God thanks.
