Governor Samuel Ortom has reiterated his call on anyone with vital information that could lead to the arrest of the dreaded criminal Terwase Akwaza.
The Governor who made this passionate appeal while briefing newsmen yesterday after the State Security Council meeting held at the Government House, Makurdi maintained that the bounty of 50 million naira which the government placed on Gana is still on.
He however, urged Gana to humbly surrender himself and be re-integrated into the society, adding that security agencies would clamp hard on all criminals in the State if they refuse to surrender.
Ortom lamented over the high rate of internal security challenges confronting the State especially the Kwande/Cross River, Konshisha /Oju crisis, averring that there are several land disputes in all the three(3) Senatorial districts of the State.
He commended the security agencies for been proactive and nipping in the bud criminality in the State. And urged Benue people to always avail security operatives adequate information to fish out criminals.
“We have been experiencing internal security challenges ranging from kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, Communal clashes. But we have taken measures to reduce the spate of crime in the State.
“We will not shield anyone found wanting. I want to commend the security agencies especially the Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, Police, Department of State Security, Airforce and other security agencies for the immense effort in curbing insecurity in the State. Their synergy has helped to a large extent in the reduction of crime and criminalities to a minimal level. I also, commend the effort of Ado local government area James Oche for going after criminals in his domain and ask other chairmen to emulate his security initiative. I want to urge the security agencies not to rest on their oars while also, appealing to our people to provide adequate information to them to fight crime”, Ortom appealed.
