From Ado Abubakar Musa, Jos

A youth group from Benue state popularly known as “Benue Hopefuls 2019” yesteday vowed to unseat the incumbent governor of the state through the ballot box come 2019 general elections.
In a statement signed by the leader of the group, Terhemen Bem, and secretary of the group Ochai Oguche, shortly after soliciting for Comrade Richard Gbamwuan to contest for the office of governor in Benue State in the forthcoming general elections, said Samuel Ortom has performed dismally.
The youth group which came to Jos, Plateau state, yesterday said it has come out in search of better representation in Benue state.
“We are a concerned youth group yearning for a better Benue state. Our association is not a political group, we are not sponsored by anyone. Our concern is a better future that our younger ones and children should inherit. That’s why we are here calling on comrade Richard Gbamwuan to contest the governorship position.”
“We are disappointed in the performance of Dr. Samuel Ortom as governor of our dear state. He has done nothing, so he does not deserve re-election. Our people are dying of hunger due to non-payment of salaries.”
“Benue people are suffering untold hardship, our parents have withdrawn their children from schools, because they cannot pay school fees. About 70 percent of citizens in Benue state cannot assess medication due to lack of funds, simply because the governor failed in his responsibilities to
pay civil servants their due entitlements.”
“We beacon on comrade Richard Gbamwuan, to come and salvage our state in 2019 as governor. We know he has the capacity to do it; we have seen his performance as the north central zonal secretary, medical and health workers union.”
The group, therefore, appealed to Comrade Richard Gbamwuan, to contest the election against governor Samuel Ortom to bring better future to the people of the state.
