Orange County Mayor Honours FCT with special Day

The Mayor of Orange County, Mr. Dwayne Warren has proclaimed May 21 as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Day to be celebrated at Orange county, in New Jersey.
This announcement was made at the end of 2019 Committee Status of Women, CSW 63 session held in New York, to unveil the gender world logo, aimed at creating a credible platform for discussions.
The letter signed by the Mayor of Orange County and headed over to the leader of FCT delegation and the Acting Secretary of FCT Social Development Secretariat, Hajia Safiya Umar conferred on the FCT May 21 as a special day to celebrate the nation’s capital in New Jersey.
Our correspondent gathered that the honour was facilitated by a United Nations staff, Dr. Ada Akika, Helpline Foundation for the Needy Abuja and Sure Smiles Women and Children Advocacy Initiative.
Receiving the letter on behalf of the FCT Administration, Hajia Safiya Umar, thanked the Mayor for the honour, stressing that the achievements recorded by the present administration has been recognized outside the shore of Nigeria.
While dedicating the honour to the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, she however stressed that the honour will spur the administration to a greater height.
Speaking in the same vein, the President of Helpline Foundation for the Needy and one of the facilitators, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, noted that the honour will further serve as an avenue to showcase Abuja to the world.
According to Ahmadu, “This is a public and official announcement dealing with a matter of great importance by the Mayor. Thus as far as the county is concerned FCT has a special place in the county.
“The administration can choose how to mark this day either by inviting them over to Abuja for exhibition or we go there to showcase Abuja to the world.”
