Authorities of the Nigerian Navy has said the creation of three operational commands of Western command, Central command and Eastern command has reduced all forms of illegalities on the waterways to a large extent.

The three Commands are said to have ensured constant patrols on the waterways, especially the Central Command where most of the illegalities take place.

The Chief of Naval Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Amin Ikioda stated this yesterday, at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja, while briefing journalists on the line-up of activities of Chief of Naval Staff Conference (CONSAC) 2014.

The conference, with the theme: “Transforming for enhanced Nigerian Navy Operational efficiency” will take place later this month in Kogi state with the aim to identifying challenges of the Navy and to chart a way forward.

He further said the conference will deliberate on emerging security challenges of a rapidly changing maritime environment especially within the inter-connected maritime environment.
