A new commander for Operation Whirl Stroke has assumed office in Makurdi, Benue State.
He is Brigadier-General Clement Apere. He takes over from Major-General Adeyemi Yekini who had commanded the troop for more than three years.
In a valedictory meeting with the media yesterday, Maj. Gen. Yekini acknowledged the great role Journalists played in his successful outing and urged them to extend same to the new commander.
“I enjoyed a good and friendly relationship with the media in Benue State.You have contributed immensely to my success and I hope you will extend same to my successor.
Brigadier General Apere promised to build on the good work of his predecessor , noting that the press is a very important component in any military operation.
“It is not military battle alone. The press has s a role to play in this operation. Together we will rid the state of criminal elements”, Gen. Apere said.
