Following the conduct of All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses in all the 20 local government areas in Bauchi state which left one person killed by people suspected to be political thugs, police have arrested five people in connection with the killing in Warji local government Area of Bauchi state.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed confirmed the killing and the arrest, saying “one person was certified dead and five suspects have been arrested; investigation is in progress”.

Similarly, the committee set up by the APC to conduct congresses in Bauchi state has explained that the conduct of yesterday’s ward congress election was generally peaceful in all parts of the state.

The Secretary of the committee which took charge of the conduct of the state ward congress in the state, Suleiman Haruna described the exercise as peaceful and successful with large turnout of party members in the over 200 wards of the State.

Haruna told newsmen in a telephone interview yesterday in Bauchi that the exercise was not only peaceful but orderly and successful in many of the areas we visited and from the report we have received so far over 85 percent of the exercise was successful. We only had problems in few areas and we will address everything in good time.

The National Officer of the party in the State, Captain Bala Jibrin commended the party members for their turnout and explained that ward executives would emerge at the end of the exercise, while five delegates would be elected from each ward for Saturday’s local government congress.

Captain Jibrin said the people demonstrated enthusiasm and zeal for the exercise and explained that the large turnout showed the desire and commitment of the people to take over government at all levels in the 2015 general elections.
