One Bauchi state pilgrim, who was waiting to be airlifted back home, has died after a protracted illness in Mecca. The pilgrim hailed from Katagum local government area of the state.
The Secretary of the state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Aliyu Suleiman stated this yesterday, while speaking to newsmen.
He said the deceased suffered from asthma, last Sunday. “Our officials took him to the hospital; we planned to airlift him back home in the third flight but unfortunately, he died a natural death while receiving treatment in the hospital.
Suleiman said the board recorded success in this year’s Hajj exercise, from the beginning up to the stage of airlifting pilgrims back home. He said all the state pilgrims are in good health. “We recorded quite number of cases of fever, cough because of stress”, he stated.
He said already first and second batch had been airlifted back home third flight was for early Tuesday while the fourth, fifth and sixth flights are expected to be completed before the end of the week.
Over 2895 pilgrims from Bauchi state had performed this year’s Hajj,Suleiman said.
