The 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup bound teams already playing test matches ahead of the championship, Super Falcons Coach, Edwin Okon, has called for early preparations for his team.
The Rivers Angels coach has praised the Nigeria Football Federation for ‘doing well’, but says they need to start playing quality international friendly matches.
“The NFF have done well and they are doing well so we must give them kudos but we need to start playing friendly matches.
“The more quality we get the better for us because we must prepare hard for the World Cup and we must play strong teams during our preparation,” Okon said.
The Nigerians have been drawn in group D, alongside the USA, Australia and Sweden, and Okon believes they should play friendlies against teams from those confederations.
“It will be good if we can play against countries from the region where our group opponents come from as that will toughen us on what to expect from our group opponents.
“Bit like I said, that NFF have done well and I believe they will do their best to get us these friendly matches.
“We want to do well at the World Cup and I’m sure we will get all we need to make us do well in Canada,” he reckoned.
