From James Ogunnaike, Abeokuta
Organizations dealing with vulnerable children in Ogun state have been charged to fish out the bad eggs amongst them with a view to sanitizing the system while urging them to collaborate with one another with a view to enhancing welfare of the children.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Elizabeth Sonubi, who gave the charge in Abeokuta, during the quarterly meeting of operators of Orphanages and Children’s homes in the state, said there was urgent need for stakeholders to come together and proffer lasting solution to the problems affecting the rights and privileges of children, particularly the vulnerable ones.
The Commissioner warned that operators of such homes need to be alive to their responsibilities and fish out illegal operators in their mist to guide against denting their image. Towards this end, she urged them to partner with social workers in the Ministry of Women Affairs, to sanitise the system reiterating that the present leadership in the state frowns at any form of impropriety against children and would not hesitate to deal with those found wanting.
