From James Ogunnaike, Abeokuta
An elder statesman, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has described all the infrastructural projects embarked upon by Senator Ibikunle Amosun led government in Ogun State as those that lacked human face and had imparted hardship on people of the state.
According to Chief Adebanjo who dropped the hint yesterday in Abeokuta at the flag off Campaign of the newly resuscitated Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ogun State accused the present government of been corrupt in the execution of its urban renewal programme.
He also accused the state government of neglect of the grassroots in its development programmes, saying that “in spite of the much-touted urban renewal and infrastructural programmes embarked upon by the state government, rural areas, where the majority of the citizens live, have not been given any consideration”.
“It is unfortunate that the people in the grassroots, who form the majority that usually come out to vote during elections, are the ones that the Amosun government has neglected. They pretend not to know that they are there and so they have concentrated their development programmes in the urban centres.”
Speaking at the well attended event held at the Ake Palace Ground, Ake, Abeokuta, the leader of the party, and former Governor of the state, Aremo Olusegun Osoba pledged a better governance under the party if given mandate to rule the state in the February 28 governorship election in the state.
