…Odu residents appeal for basic amenities

The residents of Odu village under Kwa ward, in Kuje Area Council have pleaded with the Council administration under the chairmanship of Shaban Tete, to provide basic amenities to the community.

The residents told Peoples Daily that the community was in dire need of electricity, road and water supply, which they said are basic essentials for enhancing peoples’ life.

A resident, Ibrahim Musa, says “we in this village have not tasted the dividend of democracy as other communities have. We need the government, to look at the plight of the people living in that village.”

Similarly, Danladi Sule, said “the only project a water borehole and solar energy project executed in the village, by the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), now none of them is working.

“MDGs visited the village mounted a water and solar energy one for the school and one for the villagers, but for a long time, now none of them is working.

“We really need to feel the dividends of democracy. Therefore, on behalf of the community, I am appealing to the administration to come to our aid”, he expressed.

Another resident, Ahmed Yusuf, who expressed dismay over the state of things in the community, said “we in this community during elections have voted people seeking for one political office or the other, and during campaigns, they had made so many promises us but nor has been fulfilled.

“The community really needs roads, electricity and water supply, because when we have these basic amenities, it will enable us to effectively interact and business with neigbouring communities.”
