By Ikechukwu Okaforadi

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has described the reported exit of the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, from the party as mere media propaganda.
In a short statement he issued in Abuja shortly after the report of the governor’s exit went viral, the national publicity Secretary of the APC , Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC said the party has no record of the reported defection of Governor Obaseki from the progressive party.
“The party has no record of the reported defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the Progressive party. We cannot comment at this moment on media reports suggesting the Edo governor or anyone else has left our great party”, the statement said.
Meanwhile, after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa yesterday, the Edo Governor disclosed that he has resigned from the ruling party to further his political careers elsewhere.
Recall that Governor Obaseki had on Monday said he would only disclose his next line of action after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday .
The Governor has been having a running battle with his predecessor and the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.
Last Friday, the APC Screening Committee for the Edo Governorship Primary submitted its reports to the chairman of APC , in which it passed a resolution that, due to defective credentials submitted by Obaseki and two others, they are ineligible to contest the party’s June 22 primary.
This decision was respectively upheld by the Screening Appeal Committee and the party’s National Working Committee on Saturday.
