All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State, on Tuesday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for setting up the reconciliation Committee led by Chief Bisi Akande, to midwife the crisis rocking the party.
A pressure group, Obaseki Shaibu Movement (OSM) in APC made this known in a Communique on Tuesday in Benin City, ahead of the Governorship election in Edo State.
OSM also passed vote of confidence on the Governor, Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu, the Edo State Deputy Governor, adding that their re-election was not negotiable despite the increasing hostility in the State Chapter of the party.
The State Commissioner for Youths and Special Duties in Edo State, Damian Lawani, disclosed this in a Communiqué issued by the group in Benin City.
Lawani, who read the Communiqué, expressed hope that “the wisdom and leadership style which President Buhari has displayed in setting up the APC National reconciliation Committee would be applied in the conduct of the forthcoming general election in Edo State, the gubernatorial primaries and other States affected in the areas of elections.
“OSM believes strongly in the leadership of governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt Hon. Philip Shaibu in Edo and because they have performed creditably well, their second term is not negotiable”, he said.
