Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and other eminent Nigerians, including Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, former governors Bola Tinubu and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, are expected to meet in Lagos, to chart a new way for democracy in Nigeria.
They will also use the occasion to celebrate the victory of the Osun state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, at the last governorship election in the state.
A release issued by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Hon. Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo, who is also chairman of the organising committee, said the event is tagged: ‘Victory Colloquium for Mr. Aregbesola’, with theme: “Osun election: A pathway for Nigeria’s democratic growth.”
According to him, the event, scheduled to hold on November 2, in Lagos, is being organised in conjunction with an on-line news medium, saying: “The over militarisation and intimidating atmosphere during the Osun governorship polls have been well documented. Despite this, the people of Osun State stood in full vigilance, not only to vote for the candidate of their choice, but also rose to stoutly defend their votes.”
