The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has pledged his commitment to deal with violators of native laws to rid the state of criminal activities.
The Benin monarch gave the warning after the Benin Customary Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee led by Justice Samson Uwaifo submitted report of the first quarter of the year.
The Benin Monarch had in October 2017 gave a royal proclamation on to the dispute resolution committee, with a mandate to handle and resolve communal matters including inheritance and land matters.
The Oba assured that the palace would work out detailed measures to deal decisively with those who refused to honour invitation extended to them by the committee upon summon.
He also expressed satisfaction with the performance of Justice Uwaifo led committee, urging the members not to be deterred by the challenges.
The leader of the delegation who led other members to the Committee on the visit to the royal father, Justice Samson Uwaifo, lamented the refusal of respondents to honour the committee’s invitation, which he claimed had hampered prompt access to justice delivery.
