The National Youths Service Corps,NYSC,Adamawa state chapter has organised a free medical treatment of different ailments to over one thousand villagers and Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Damare community in Girei local government area in the state.
Serving doctors and paramedics in the state conducted medical tests to the patients before administering drugs to more than 1000 villagers and internally displaced persons in Damare community and surrounding villages in the council.
Sick persons were seen subjected to Instant laboratory tests conducted by scientists before being examined by 20 doctors while a team of pharmacists administered drugs.
Interviewed benefiaries at the venue in Damare primary school expressed delight with the gesture saying it was a big relief to them on time.
According to Adama Garba Isa whose child suffered from recurrent fever said she had given up after spending N4000 on treatment at the state government owned hospital without success while her family failed to raise additional money, saying the NYSC initiative brought hope to many people like her.
An IDP from Ngoshe village in Gwoza area who lives with his family in a temporary shelter in Damare village said he could not raise enough money to treat recurring fever due to harsh economic condition.
Handing over wheel chairs to three cripples in the community, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Muhammad Abubakar said the initiative was aimed at bringing succour to rural dwellers and economically disadvantaged people.
