As part of efforts to motivate hardworking staff to greater productivity, the National Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) has approved the promotion of four hundred and seventy five staff from different cadre, disciplined some who committed various offences and sacked those who falsified their record.
The chairman of the board, Chief Gordon Bozimo, who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja, during a courtesy visit to the minister of youth development, Mr. Boni Haruna, said the board has restored discipline among staff.
He noted that the board has embarked on serious sensitization and constant advocacy visit to state governments on the development of befitting orientation camps and training of corps members.
According to Bozimo, the board has initiated action to review the existing corps-posting policy, to make it more sensitive and responsive to the present realities in the country.
Speaking earlier, Minister Boni Haruna lauded the board members and its chairman for wonderful initiatives to move the scheme forward.
He reiterated the ministry’s desire to abide by the principle in which the scheme was set up and promised to support the board initiatives to ensure that the target of President Goodluck Jonathan towards the scheme is achieved.
