The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Johnson B.Olawumi yesterday made a donation of a cow with market value put at N130, 000 to the Children of Zainab Dakingari Orphanage home of Kebbis state Ministry for Women Affairs and Social Development.
Presenting the cow on behalf of the Director-General to the home, the Kebbi state coordinator of the NYSC, Malam Abdullahi Yusuf Baba stated that the gesture made to the orphanage home was part of the humanitarian gesture the NYSC has mapped out.
He stated further that the scheme under the current leadership of General Olawumi will continue to give priority support to the less privileged ones across the country.
The NYSC boss, however, called on the authorities of the home to make delicious meals with the meat for the children to the glory of God and men. Responding to the gift, the Director, Children Affairs, who is also the Matron of the home, Hajiya AzanaWara commended the NYSC National boss for deeming it fit to remember the home as parts of his philanthropic gestures to the less privilege.
She explained that no fewer than 57 children are currently in the home, adding that some of the orphans are doing well in their academic pursuit in various tertiary institutions in the state.
Hajiya Wara, therefore, called on other Government bodies and spirited individuals in the society to emulate the NYSC Director-General, by showing compassion with these children.
