Personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) have been urged to remain calm over the brutal murder of their colleague, Mr. Ogar Jumbo, in Nyanya area of Abuja.
This charge was handed down by the Commandant, FCT Command of the NSCDC, Solomon Iyamu, yesterday, when the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma paid a condolence visit to the Corps.
Iyamu, in a statement by the Public Relations Officers (PRO) of the FCT Command, Akinbinu David, stressed that the incident shouldn’t cause a row between the two agencies.
Recall that late Jumbo, who was an Assistant Superintendent of the NSCDC was allegedly beaten and killed by some policemen on traffic control duty in the area.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at Nyanya market near a branch of Redeemed Church, while the slained NSCDC officer was taking his kids and wife to school.
Bemoaning the situation, the NSCDC Commandant appealed to the officers and men of the Corps to be law abiding even in the face of the unfortunate provocative incident.
He disclosed that the remains has been deposited at the mortuary while investigations are on going to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, who expressed heartfelt condolences to the Corps and family of the deceased.
According to the CP, the culprits have been arrested and will face the wrath of the law.
