By Nosa Akenzua, Asaba

Fresh trouble is currently brewing between the Delta state Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and the Delta state Teachers Social Security and Investment Scheme (DSTSSIS) over monthly deduction of N5000 as against N2, 000.
It was gathered that the NUT state wing is set to implement the Investment Scheme for monthly deduction of N5000 instead of N2000 oringinally the stipulated and agreed amount.but the DSTSSIS through its the Asuss state Chairman, Comrade Kenneth Okoh who spoke to Journalists in Asaba on Monday, said that members of DSTSSIS were ready for a showdown with the NUT adding that the NUT may have concluded plans to start implementation in this month of January 2020.
Comrade Kenneth Okoh said” Assu had between July 16, and November 2019 made its position on the DSTSSIS known to the state government and the NUT starting that, the N2000 presently being deducted from Secondary School teachers salaries in favour to the scheme should stop forthwith and that Asuss is not in support of the planned increase in the amount to N5000 and add to this, Asuss had made it clear that the NUT should not force any Secondary School teachers to Contribute to the Scheme as it’s supposed to be voluntary and our fear is that, we have it on good authourity that some government officials Operating under the umbrella name, NUT Elders” who want to erode the integrity of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration are behind the NUT in its resolve to make the DSTSSIS a reality to the detriment of Secondary School teachers”
Comrade Kenneth Okoh however averred that though the leadership of Asuss had been careful and reluctant to engage in any form of protest against the NUT’s planned DSTSSIS Scheme because of the benevolence of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa towards Secondary School teachers in the state, disclosing that with the DSTSSIS, the greatest scam that would ever befall Secondary School teachers in the state had been perfected in the manipulation wheel” of the NUT waiting to be hatched.
For this reason, Comrade Kenneth Okoh Called on Secondary School teachers in the state who do not want to lose N60,000 annually to the NUT via DSTSSIS Scheme to rise up to the Challenge when ASUSS calls for action to defend their destiny, adding that even in the face of hash economic realities, Secondary School teachers are already subscribing to a Pension Scheme, therefore, the unsolicited attempt by NUT in the state to Compulsory Lord another pension Scheme in the guise of DSTSSIS on Secondary School teachers would lead to an excruciating pain that would negatively affect their job at the time when Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has done much to make teachers at that level of education happy and Comfortable.
While reaffirming ASUSS Position that till date, the best government in the state is the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration, Comrade Kenneth Okoh said that Okowa has been working hard to create a pot of honey and Called for Stronger Delta State out of a hot pot, and appealed to the state Governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to as a matter of urgency intervene in the matter
But in a swift reaction, the state Chairman of NUT, Comrade Titus Okotie Confirmed the NUT decision to implement the DSTSSIS adding that the Union was waiting for the state and local governments to begin the implementation of the new minimum wage.
