The reprisal attacks between suspected Fulani herdsmen and Bachama militia is taking a new dimension as latest ambush on Kikon village by suspected Fulani attackers at the early hours of Sunday in Numan local government of Adamawa state has claimed three lives while properties and houses destroyed completely.
Reports from the area revealed that the attackers stroke in the village (Kikon) shooting sporadically while most villagers were deep asleep, a situation that threw everybody in to pandemonium forcing all to ran in to the nearby bushes for safety.
Irked by the development, the Bachama militia mobilised Sunday afternoon and launched counter attacks on Dowayan-waja and Lure villages burning everything on sight.
Confirming the attacks to the media, Chairman of Numan Local Government Mr. Arnold Jibila said the number of deaths cannot be ascertain for now.
Another source who pleaded anonymity said many of the villagers have taken refuge in the nearby bushes explaining that, the herdsmen stormed the village on more than 20 motor cycles while others came on foot to launch the surprise attack as the unsuspecting villagers were asleep.
The source added that more than three persons have been confirmed dead while a number of the wounded have been evacuated to the Numan General Hospital for medical attention.
Speaking on the attacks in Numan, the Police Public Relations Officer in the states Othman Abubakar confirmed that two male and two female villagers were killed.
