The National University Commission has accredited Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, in Kogi state.
It would be recalled that the Kogi State Government has approved a bill for the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, in the state.
The move was aimed at training manpower in science related courses to feed available industries in the state, according to the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo.
The Executive Secretary of NUC , Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed while speaking at the Presentation of letter of recognition to the Kogi state delegates which was led by the Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello in Abuja , said that the establishment of the university of science and technology will be deeply rooted in Engineering , sciences , mathematics and other science related course.
NUC boss commended the Governor, saying he has been investing wisely to change the fortune in kogi and the nation as a whole.
According to him, Education is the only weapon to change and transformation.
‘’ It is very important it is a specialized university; it is a university that will focus on those courses that translate. Kogi will now be one of the propellers of moving Nigeria forward in terms of 25th century. We are happy to see this kind commitment to higher education which means there is hope in Kogi and Nigeria.
Earlier, the Governor of Kogi, Yahaya Bello said that the establishment and accreditation of the Varsity is a dream come true for the youths and children of the state.
Governor Bello noted that education is important in the life of human beings, community and nation, assuring that kogi will not be an education alone but functional and impactful education.
He encouraged the nations to develop its technology in order to refine the mineral and natural resources of the country without foreign assistance.
He disclosed that the government will put all measures in place to make the students and management of the varsity compete with international standards.
Further speaking, his Excellency commended the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu for bringing history to the school curriculum.
He explained that losing a sense of History implies that the generations ahead are wasted, emphasizing that Kogi as a state teaches students good history that will help in uniting the nation.
His words,’’ Education, we know how important it is in the life of human beings, in the life of a community and a nation, without education, we won’t be where we are today. That of Kogi State is not just going to be an education but a functional and useful impactful education.
‘’Kogi state is blessed with a lot of minerals, both solid and liquid and even in gaseous products as well as Nigeria is equally blessed but at all times, we are always quick to export and take this God-given natural resources outside the country, why don’t we sit down and develop our own technology, our own science to ensure that we don’t only utilize these but also, the future will be driven by science and technology.
‘’We should be able to come up with an institution, seat of knowledge to ensure that our knowledge and resources are put to use within us, we came up with that idea, and we raised an executive bill to the state house of assembly who expeditiously passed the bill and immediately passed it into law and we approached the NUC and you encouraged us.
‘’ My wonderful brothers and sisters, today we are here to present all the necessary documents for recognition of the Confluence University of Science and Technology.
