NTI trains 149 head teachers, school administrators on academic leadership

The National Teachers’ Institute , Kaduna has between July 9 and 11, 2019 trained 149 head teachers and school administrators on academic leadership.

Make. Yakubu Akaaba Momoh , the Institute’s Director of Field Operations and Students’ Services made the disclosure to newsmen in his office at the weekend in Kaduna.

Akaaba said the training took place in six locations nationwide, with each state and the FCT , having four participants , with the exception of Niger , which has five participants.

He said the six locations for the training are Bayelsa, Abia, Ogun, Jigawa , Adamawa and Niger States , with each training centre managed by at least a director from the Institute.

Akaaba said the objective of the programme is to put the participants in proper shape and train them on how to coordinate activities in their schools.

“It is intended to train them on how to manage and keep school records and how to involve the community in managing the school system.

“All for the purpose of enhancing effective school learning, “ he said.

He said because of the diverse background of the pupils , the training becomes necessary so as to train the head teachers and school administrators the strategy of managing and harmonising the pupils, to achieve the desired objective.

He commended Prof. Garba Dahuwa Azare , the Institute’s Director-General and Chief Executive for given priority to capacity development of teachers generally.

The Director, Field Operations and Students Services of the Institute said the programme was very successful in all the centres it was conducted.

The programme , which was supervised by the Institute’s Council members , had also officials from the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the president on Sustainable Development Goals(OSSAP-SDGs) and Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, monitored the training.
