The Nigeria Tourism Development Cooperation (NTDC) in collaboration with Linas Organisation (Project Tourism) yesterday organised a program aimed promoting rich Nigeria tourism assets to world the world.
Also, the Director General NTDC ,Folorunsho Coker Who was represented by Head, Public Relations NTDC, Ahmed Sule said project tourism was a project of policy form of government seeking public private partnership for quite some time now.
He said the country has taken tourism to the next level but has not been successful because the private sector has not actually takenover the driver seat.
Coker expressed that the Chairman of Project Tourism has invested his own money to move tourism sector.
“NTDC is in full support of this super maiden initiative in the tourism sector”.
He therefore tasked operators in the industry for apporiate personnel training in all tourism aspect to enable them handle the sector successful because training is the key to ensure operators manage tourism sector .
Also, Chairman Project Tourism Prince Ned Munir Nwoko disclosed that Project Tourism is an initiative conceptualized by Linas International Limited and jointly promoted by NTDC to promote and project rich tourism assets of Nigeria and run profitable projects that will highlight “our country’s hospitality as well as her rich cultural endowments.
While launching the project, Nwoko pointed out that the collaboration between NTDC and Linas was to embraked on a four (4) ambitious key project to take Nigeria tourism to the next level of Cultural village in every state and federal capital Territory, “ making 37000 cultural villages in Nigeria , and ensure grassroots sports development in 774local government areas in Nigeria to identify, nurture, promote, manage and encourage young talents sports at the grass roots.
He said the program will Kickstart with global road show by July 2019 in collaboration with lottery commission and “ i am contributing 100million Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, the President Federation of Tourism Association in Nigeria (FTAN) Rabo Saleh in his goodwill message appealed to president Muhammadu Buhari to create Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality, saying this will go a long way to add value to the sector .
Saleh said that tourism has become next oil in Nigeria which will give the country a new beginning.
Earlier, National Coordinator Project Tourism, Chief Friday Anumba said the project tourism was geared towards an initiative conceptual by Linus International Limited and jointly promoted by the by Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).
Anumba stressed that project tourism would project assets of Nigeria and run profitable project that will highlight Nigeria’s hospitality culture as well as her rich cultural endowments.
He further explained that ,the truth is though ,Nigeria couldn’t be said to have really explored the potentialities of tourism, an undisputed money -spinny sector needs to improve her lots and her people ,the importance of tourism cannot be overemphasized as it is an inclusive activity.
“All that the industry needs to boom and earn for both the nation and her people is a workable government policy ,good relationship between the public and private sector .That is why we are very proud to launch Project Tourism ,the first organised public -private initiative to practically promote the Nigeria tourism industry”,Anumba said .
The stakeholders in private sector who pledge their aliegn to the next level of tourism impact were NollyHood Actors and Actress Apostle Eucharia Anuwbi, Segun Arinze,monoliza,,Francis Duru ,Sani Danja, and Asiegu amongst others .
