Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) Chairman, and Niger state governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has, on behalf of the forum, condemned the twin blasts that claimed several lives of Nigerians in Kaduna on Wednesday.
The forum also described the attack targeted at the life of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) in the second blast as unfortunate, ungodly and a dastardly show of shame, adding that Nigeria is sliding into a dark period of uncertainty, fear and general mistrust.
The forum’s Chairman, who made the position of his colleagues known in a press statement, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Israel A. Ebije also condemned earlier attack on the life of a prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.
“It is indeed very unfortunate the twin blasts targeted at General Buhari and Sheikh Bauchi in Kaduna which has led to the death of innocent Nigerians. We must therefore, realize that activities of terrorists have no limit, just as it has no focus. Nigerians must therefore understand that there is no single person spared by the deadly terror organisation causing the serious security challenge in the country.”
“We must therefore, as a people, come together, join hands and fight terrorism. We must not see it as the problem of a section of the country alone. The issue of security must therefore not be politicized; it must be given the attention it deserves, as no one is spared in their onslaught”, the forum stated.
While condoling with the families of the deceased, he prayed that Allah grants them Aljannatul Firdaus. He also thanked Allah for sparing the life of General Buhari and Sheikh Bauchi, adding that they should see their escape as opportunity to serve God and humanity better.
The Chairman of the forum, while condemning those behind the attack, called on security operatives to investigate the incident and expose those behind the cowardly act. He said terrorists and their sponsors should be made example of to serve as deterrent to others.
