NPFL Matchday 24: Heartless Heartland Beat Lobi In Okigwe

It was an enthralling encounter at the Okigwe Township Stadium as Heartland put up a spectacle against Lobi Stars ,returning to winning ways to the delight of her teaming fans
Fidelis Ilechukwu rang some changes from the side that lost against Dakada . Benjamin Francis ,Nnamani Emmanuel and Issah Lenket were injected Into the team to as the gaffer tried to tweak things tactically .
The best was saved for the last as Heartland burst into life In the second period. The first was pedestrian paced as chances were few and far between. Both sides played with caution, waiting to pounce on mistakes from their opposite numbers. While Heartland enjoyed better spell of possession in the first period ,probing through the channels for an opening, Lobi were the quicker of the two with quick counter attacks and snap shots that failed to trouble the ageless Chijioke Ejiogu (Arugo Monkey)in goal.
Heartland’s patience will be rewarded In the 42nd minute .Samuel Nnoshiri’s pass found Pascal Eze whose deflected shot beat Daniel in his near post for Heartland’s opener.
The second period was totally different from the first. The tempo and tenacity kept neutrals on the edge of their seats.
Heartland again bossed proceedings but
this time with some sense of urgency and swagger. Samuel Nnoshiri was simply unplayable, gliding past Lobi players with an effortless ease while setting up his team mates. The chemistry between Nnoshiri ,Nnamani, Chidera ,Ayo and Issah overwhelmed the visitors and treated the fans to some swashbuckling football. A sweeping team move in the 69th minute duly produced the insurance goal. A sumptuous pass from Chidera Eze found Nnamani who made a meal of his opposite number before he was hacked down in the vital area in a goal bound move before Chukwuemeka Obioma unleashed a vicious strike from outside the box for Heartland’s second.
Lobi tried to reduce the deficit late on through Former Heartland striker Chinomso Okonkwo but Ejiogu calmly saved.
It ended two nil in favour of the Naze Millionaires who will be guests to Jigawa Golden Stars this Wednesday for a mid week fixture.
Speaking after the game Fidelis Ilechukwu Eulogized his wards for a five star performance.
“My players today once again proved their worth” said an elated Ilechukwu.
“I and my Crew made a demand from the players and they responded well, I happy for them and
our fans who have been very supportive”
On the next game against Jigawa Heartland’s Technical Adviser believes the victory at Okigwe will be a psychological boost for the team.
