NPA empowers 400 women, youths in Niger

Nigerian Ports Authority NPA has empowered 400 women and youths in Niger State as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme of the organization in line with the federal government Social Investment Programme.
The Niger State Coordinator of Buhari Support Organization and Board member of NPA, Alhaji Umar Shuaibu made this known during the distribution of items yesterday in Minna, saying that this was targeted at the grassroots to achieve self-reliance and employment.
Shuaibu explained that, “no government in Nigeria have invested much in social investment and empowerment programme aim at getting the citizens out of poverty like President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
He stated that the first face was 200 beneficiaries from Suleja, Tafa and Gurara local Government Areas while today is Chanchaga and other councils for another 200 beneficiaries, advised them to make use of item for what it was meant for or will be retrieved from them.
He applauded the efforts of NPA for the good gesture which he assured of its continuity, just as the items includes water pumps for irrigation, grinding machines and sowing machines were distributed at the ceremony.
The Managing Director of NPA, Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman who was represented by Alhaji Aliyu Garba reassured of fair and just distribution of such items to Nigerians and charged for the judicious used of the materials accordingly.
The Director General of National Directorate of Employment NDE, Dr Nasir Mohammad Ladan Argungu represented by Abdulmalik Liman called for partnership with the agency ensure proper training of various youths and women programmes in the country to enhanced the objectives of ensuring self-reliance and employment.
