The Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) has alleged that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Nnamdi Kanu, plans to humiliate President Muhammadu Buhari, when he speaks at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
This was made known in a statement released yesterday by the CNG spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman.
The group maintained that they have privileged information that IPOB sponsors are mobilizing their members in the Diaspora to humiliate President Muhammadu Buhari in New York where he is billed to address the United Nations General Assembly
According to the statement, President Buhari left Nigeria yesterday to join world leaders at the 72nd Session of the UNGA but will be humiliated by the separatist group whose activities are geared provoking northerners in Nigeria and incite the world against the Nigerian leader and his government.
“We must state here that our position that IPOB be proscribed, its activities be declared as acts of terror, and its leaders be accordingly treated in the interest of a greater, peaceful and united Nigeria has to a large extent been vindicated, which is also reassuring and encouraging,” the group said.
The South-east governors were commended in the statement for denouncing IPOB after it was declared a terrorist group by the Nigeria military, saying they has been vindicated by the declarations.
CNG also hailed the Abia, Rivers and Plateau state governments for checking members of IPOB whom it said wanted to set Nigeria on the war path.
In the same vein, they encouraged Nigerians to overlook this planned unpatriotic action by the IPOB supporters as it is nothing but another antic to provoke reactions but assured that the group has what it takes and is preparing to counter IPOB foreign propaganda efforts by compiling relevant facts to be presented personally to the UN soon.
The group also expresses sincere gratitude to all security agencies for diligently carrying out their duties further maintaining their stand on the call for peace, calmness and tolerance.
