The Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has called on the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to immortalize Assistant Inspector General of Police Simeon Oduoye (rtd), a former Military Administrator of Niger and Ebonyi States who died at the weekend.
In a condolence message signed by Gov Aliyu’s spokesman, Danladi Ndayebo, the forum said Oduoye’s passage constitutes a great loss to the people of Nigeria whose lives he touched in his eventful life that was devoted to public service and the worship of God Almighty.
The forum said it is pained by the demise of AIG Oduoye, but takes solace in the fact that he lived an exemplary and purposeful life with remarkable achievements as a Police officer, a politician, a community leader and a dedicated family man.
Governor Aliyu said Nigeria has lost an elder statesman that was committed and concerned about the development of his community and the nation, saying he will be missed for his immeasurable contributions as a police officer and a senator of the federal republic.
The forum said the late Senator Oduoye was a professional cop, a distinguished parliamentarian and a disciplinarian whose foot prints and legacies in the Nigeria Police will continue to serve as reference points to generations yet unborn.
