Cooperative Groups and Organizations in the North- East Zone are to benefit N2.20billion from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
The North-East Zonal Coordinator of (SMEDAN), Alhaji Adamu Gargawa made the disclosure yesterday during a workshop organized in Bauchi saying, that the aim of the training was to educate, enlighten and equip the participants with necessary skill knowledge to enable them become self-reliant in their respective businesses.
He said cooperative society groups would benefit from the N2.20billion provided by the Federal Government through SMEDAN programme, saying that the agency would only focus its attention on groups and cooperative societies.
He therefore called on general public to form similar groups to enable them benefit from the loan scheme.
Alhaji Gargawa however commended the participants for showing maturity and attention throughout the period of the workshop and urged them to put in their interest in identifying areas of their businesses that would yield them positive benefits.
He pointed out that participants were drawn from the three senatorial districts in the state comprising 45 members, adding that very soon SMEDAN would organize another workshop in respect of vocational training within the zone to enlighten the public on the benefit of such programme.
SMEDAN zonal coordinator stated that already some financial institutions in the country have indicated interest to partner with them in piloting the disbursement of loan scheme to cooperate organizations within the zone.
